We are excited to officially welcome the Alabama Law Enforcement Credit Union Members into the family of Jefferson Credit Union at the end of the month!

* On 4/01, we legally merged the two credit unions together.
* On 11/01, we will merge the databases together.

What that means for a Jefferson CU member:

  • Online Banking and the Mobile App will not be available and account balance inquiries at ATM’s will not reflect all of the money in your account, starting on the evening of Friday, 10/31 and ending on Monday morning, 11/03, as we combine the databases.
  • There may be limited balances available from your debit card over the weekend of 10/31 – 11/03. Please prepare to have cash on hand over that weekend, in case you need something larger than what will be allowed during the database merger weekend.
  • We will have staff available over the weekend, answering phones and assisting as best as we can during the transition.
  • By Monday, 11/03, all systems will be together as one and we can move forward, united in one database!

Originally founded in 1939, ALLECU has proudly served Alabama’s law enforcement community for over 86 years. That’s a legacy that Jefferson Credit Union will continue to support. With this merger, ALLECU’s 1,750 members will benefit from additional financial products, and access to JCU’s broader branch and ATM service network. Jefferson Credit Union members will gain the convenience of an additional branch location, further solidifying JCU’s commitment to serving the community, since 1928.

“This partnership is about growth, innovation, and, most importantly, serving our members even better,” said Richard Morris, President and CEO of Jefferson Credit Union. “As the longest running credit union in the state of Alabama, we are honored to welcome Alabama Law Enforcement Credit Union members into the JCU family.

We are committed to preserving the personal, member-focused service they’ve always known while becoming stronger together.”

“This merger is a win for our members,” said Kayla Southerland, CEO of Alabama Law Enforcement Credit Union. “They will now have access to expanded financial services, and the strength of a larger credit union—all while experiencing the same level of personalized service. We’re excited for this next chapter.”

Jefferson Credit Union, headquartered in Hoover, Alabama, has a long-standing reputation for providing exceptional financial services with a focus on community impact. This strategic merger reinforces JCU’s mission of delivering financial empowerment and convenience to its members.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Will my debit card work over the weekend?
– Starting on Friday afternoon, ALLECU Member’s Debit Cards and Jefferson
Member’s Debit Cards will have limited balances available. If you plan to purchase large items or need access to more cash over the weekend, we suggest you plan ahead and come get cash prior to closing on 10/31.

2. What will happen to Online Banking/the Mobile App?
– On Friday afternoon, the Online Banking login and Mobile App will not be available for ALLECU or Jefferson CU members to login while we combine the databases over the weekend. This will come back online 11/03, Monday morning.
– On Monday 11/03, ALLECU members will now use the JCU Online Banking and  Mobile App, found on the Jeffersoncreditunion.org website. ALLECU members will need to login like it was their very first-time logging in.

3. Can I visit a shared branching location over the weekend?
– With the database merger happening, access to shared branching will also be down during that same time period.

4. Will the ALLECU account numbers change?
– ALLECU Members main account base isn’t changing for most members. But,
ALLECU members will experience sub account type or suffix changes. For example, if your checking account suffix was 030, it will now be 070.
– Loan suffixes will be updated as well, but we will have an internal cross reference setup programmatically for any automatic loan payments that may be scheduled.

5. If the Account suffixes are changing, will that effect checks clearing, ACH’s and debit card funding accounts?
– The new program has the old suffixes in a cross-reference program that will map the old ones to the new ones.
– ALLECU members will not need to order a new check book. Their existing checks will clear just fine, because the database has a cross reference that knows that their old MICR is now being posted to their new account MICR.

6. What are some exciting things ALLECU members gain in this transition?
